This month and next, Alan Gilbert conducts live-streamed and in-person concerts with the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic and the NDR Elbphilharmonie. Beginning in Sweden, Alan performs two live-streamed concerts on January 14 and 21 with the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic. The first stream features Mahler’s fourth symphony with soprano soloist Elin Robo, and the second features Frank Peter Zimmermann performing Schumann’s Violin Concerto in d minor, as well as music by Ravel, Boulanger, and Roussel.
February calls Alan back to Hamburg, where he performs a series of concerts with the NDR Elbphilharmonie. Featuring diverse programs, these concerts welcome soloists Daniil Trifonov and Inon Barnatan who perform the piano concertos of Sergei Prokofiev and John Adams, respectively. Another highlight is the chamber music concert on February 6, where Alan performs viola alongside members of the Elbphilharmonie in Dvorak’s String Quintet E flat major and Beethoven’s Septet in E flat major.
