This Friday, Alan Gilbert joins the Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra for a broadcasted concert featuring works by Stravinsky, Brahms, and Britten.
To kick off the program, acclaimed actress Stina Ekblad joins the orchestra to narrate Stravinsky’s theatrical work A Soldier’s Tale. Next up are two of Stravinsky’s choral works, Ave Maria and Pater Noster, performed by the Swedish Radio Choir. The Choir then performs AMDG, Benjamin Britten’s setting of poems by Gerard Manley Hopkins. The orchestra concludes the program with what is widely considered to be one of the greatest works of the orchestral repertoire, Brahms’ Symphony No. 1 in c minor.
