This fall, Alan Gilbert and the NDR Elbphilharmonie eagerly welcome audiences in for a fall season marking the return of in-person performances.
September begins with Alan conducting season opening concerts at the Elbphilharmonie on September 1, 2, 4, and 5, and the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam on September 10 and 11. Alan returns to Hamburg for five performances with the NDR and cellist Alisa Weilerstein on September 24, 25, and 27. October at the Elbphilharmonie sees Alan conducting the music of Mozart and Saint-Saens, featuring soloists Roland Greutter (Oct 4) and Sheku Kanneh-Mason (Oct 10 and 12). Alan celebrates the 75th anniversary of the NDR Elbphilharmonie with a concert featuring the same program as was heard on October 30, 1945: Beethoven’s Egmont Overture, Brahms’ Concerto for Violin, Cello, and Orchestra featuring Julia Fischer and Daniel Müller-Schott, and the fifth symphony of Tchaikovsky. Closing out the fall season, Alan joins the Elbphilharmonie for a premiere by Mark-Anthony Turnage, as well as Tchaikovsky’s Fifth, and Mendelssohn’s Violin Concerto in E minor featuring violinist Frank Peter Zimmermann on November 1.
