Gilbert rounds out his summer with Japan’s Tokyo Metropolitan Symphony, of which he is Principal Guest Conductor. For his first upcoming program with the Japanese orchestra on July 14 & 15, Gilbert combines Nielsen’s Fifth Symphony and Helios Overture with Rachmaninoff’s Third Piano Concerto, featuring Kirill Gerstein. Finally, Gilbert conducts the orchestra in an all-Viennese evening of Mozart, Richard Strauss and Webern, with horn player Stefan Dohr as their concerto soloist on July 19 & 20.
